On July 3, 2025, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) published its 2025 edition of the Consumer Compliance Supervisory Highlights. This annual report provides a transparent overview of the FDIC’s consumer compliance supervisory activities, including the most frequently cited violations and consumer complaint trends observed throughout 2024. The publication aims to help FDIC-supervised institutions manage compliance responsibilities more effectively by sharing key findings and best practices identified during examinations.

⏹️ FTC Delays “Click-to-Cancel” Rule Compliance Deadline to July 14, 2025

On May 9, 2025, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced a 60-day postponement for businesses to comply with its new “Click-to-Cancel” rule, moving the deadline to July 14, 2025. This rule targets subscription services and “negative option” marketing, requiring companies to make cancellation as easy as enrollment, provide clear disclosures, and obtain customers’ express informed consent for recurring charges. The delay comes after industry feedback on the complexity of compliance, but businesses are urged to continue updating their subscription and cancellation processes to meet the new requirements by the revised deadline
